I don't have a favorite color. There are just too many beautiful shades and hues that it wouldn't be right to pick one over all the rest. I don't have one favorite type of music. Everything from bluegrass to blues, classical to classic rock, opera to pop make my playlist. And food? You'd better believe I will try just about anything (except liver and that smelly fruit, durian).

As you may have guessed, my tastes are truly eclectic. Some of my friends growing up would have said strange or weird.

But that has been my whole life experience. We always tried exotic foods and often had people from other cultures at our house when I was young. We had a student from Cuba who taught my mom some of his cooking skills. One year, for Mother's Day, we gave her a gift of Chinese cooking classes. That was purely self-serving, we really enjoyed her homework! My older brother introduced me to a world of music like Simon and Garfunkel, Jacques Brel and Argentinean religious works. My sister brought the Beatles, the Supremes and other pop sounds to the mix. Me, I preferred classical and was pretty much a musical snob until high school when my boyfriend got me hooked on Jethro Tull and ELO.

Anyway, all these different influences have shaped my creative urges. So I am not tied to or interested in just one or two areas or media. Life is too short to do one thing, I want to try it all! I design and create, whether it be jewelry, aprons, food or decoupage. Sometimes things don't come out the way I envisioned them, but every once in a while, something will be way better than it was in my head. That's when I get a rush of satisfaction and accomplishment that keeps me wanting to try more and more. My three children (not children any more) are all encouraging in these endeavors. They have given input and critiqued my work so that, hopefully, other people will enjoy some of the fun stuff I love to make.
